Taylor County Vision 2060 Receives State Planning Award
The American Planning Association Florida Chapter (APA-FL) has announced that the Taylor County Vision 2060 has been selected for an APA Florida Award of Excellence. Awards of Excellence recognize outstanding planning projects that that been completed within the last two years. Projects are evaluated using the following criteria: Significance to the planning field; Innovation; Transferability; Quality; Implementation; and Comprehensiveness. The Taylor County Vision 2060 will be recognized at the Awards Ceremony of the APA-FL Annual State Conference on Tuesday, September 11, 2008 in Miami, Florida.
On May 5, 2008, the Taylor County Board of County Commissioners unanimously adopted the Vision 2060 Plan by Ordinance. The Vision 2060 Plan will be transmitted to the Florida Department of Community Affairs (DCA) for review prior to being adopted as a component of the Taylor County Comprehensive Plan. Adoption of the Vision 2060 Plan does not change or amend the existing Future Land Use Map (FLUM) or any specific Element of the Taylor County Comprehensive Plan, but provides the framework for evaluating future land use and development pattern related decisions. You can view the Vision 2060 Plan here in PDF format. On May 5, 2008, the Taylor County Board of County Commissioners unanimously adopted the Taylor County Vision 2060 by Resolution. The Taylor County Vision 2060 will not be adopted as a component of the Taylor County Comprehensive Plan, but will be used to guide future decisions concerning protecting, sustaining, and enhancing the quality of life in Taylor County. The Taylor County Vision 2060 will also be used as a guide during the County’s Evaluation and Appraisal Report and other Comprehensive Plan Amendment processes.
